"Such inspiring images! She’s a shining example of vitality, positivity, and the spirit of exploration," one commenter wrote. Another said, "She’s amazing! I wish to have the same zest for life and strength at her age."

The woman in the photos is Nguyen Thi Huynh, commonly known as Grandmother Tu, born in 1928 and living in Nam Quang Village, Thach Trung Commune, Ha Tinh City. Speaking with VietNamNet, her grandson Vo Ta Nam (born 1990) shared more about this memorable journey.

Growing up surrounded by his grandmother’s love, Nam deeply understands her optimistic nature and her passion for exploring the world.

At the beginning of 2025, he decided to invite her on a journey to discover Vietnam.

"I wanted my grandmother to create unforgettable memories with her descendants. More than anyone, she has always loved seeing the wider world," Nam said.

Upon hearing the plan, Grandmother Tu wholeheartedly agreed, confidently affirming that she had the stamina to join the adventure.

The trip was divided into three stages. The first stage covered the route from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, spending 2-3 days exploring key tourist destinations in each province.

The second stage will take them from Ha Tinh to Hanoi, stopping in Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, and Lang Son.

The third stage will explore southern and western Vietnam.

Accompanying her are Nam, his wife, and several other grandchildren. Traveling in a pickup truck, they completed the first leg of the journey in 12 days.

"The second leg is scheduled to begin on April 10, and the third leg on May 1. We broke it into stages to ensure good health for everyone, especially for Grandmother," Nam said.

Those 12 days were unforgettable for Nam as he journeyed with his grandmother through Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang.

Throughout the trip, Grandmother Tu eagerly participated in every sightseeing, cultural, and culinary experience.

"She loved Da Nang and Quang Binh the most for their beautiful landscapes and lively activities. At every stop, she wanted to try on different traditional outfits to take souvenir photos.

I just want her to have the happiest, most fulfilling later years of her life. She always says, ‘Go now so there’s no regret later,’" Nam shared.

With her positive outlook and modern lifestyle, Grandmother Tu easily blends in with the younger generations during their trips.

Seeing her delighted expressions at each destination, Nam felt that every effort was worthwhile.

In August 2024, Grandmother Tu had already become a social media sensation for her passionate gym workouts and swimming sessions.

Even at nearly 100 years old, she remains healthy, sharp, and enthusiastic about fitness. She has maintained a habit of morning walks for over 20 years.

Each week, her family takes her to a nearby swimming pool, where she continues to swim regularly. Her dedication to exercise has kept her body flexible and strong.
