More than a digital infrastructure project, this center is poised to become the “AI heart” of Ho Chi Minh City and a key driver of CMC’s AI Transformation – Go Global strategy, aiming to elevate Vietnam’s position on the global tech map.
The data center is engineered to deliver next-generation services at scale, including AI-as-a-Service, Cloud, Big Data, and Cybersecurity. It features cutting-edge technologies such as XGS-PON, SD-WAN, SASE, and an 800G DWDM optical transport network, ensuring high bandwidth, low latency, and secure connectivity from core to edge.

One of the center’s standout features is its Digital Twin system, which enables real-time simulations and operational monitoring to optimize performance. Combined with renewable energy integration, the center aligns with international Green DC standards. The initial design provides a 30 MW capacity, scalable to 120 MW, to support massive AI computing demands and digital economic growth.
Long-term vision: Fueling AI and the Go Global strategy
CMC's investment is part of a larger strategic vision. Building on the foundation of its cloud platform (CMC Cloud), AI ecosystem (C.OpenAI), and pioneering Tier III data centers, CMC’s hyperscale upgrade places Vietnam firmly on the Southeast Asian data infrastructure map and prepares the country to host major global tech and AI enterprises.
The facility will bolster two national pillars of digital transformation:
CMC Cloud - Vietnam’s homegrown cloud platform.
C.OpenAI - An open ecosystem of 25 proprietary AI technologies including Computer Vision, LLMs, Voice Processing, and Datalakehouse architecture.
CMC’s AI solutions have already made global impact: C.Face ranks among the Top 12 globally and No. 1 in Vietnam per NIST; C.OCR powers SmartDocs; CLS serves as a legal AI assistant; AI Camera and AI Box products are in wide use. Notably, the CATI-VLM model by CMC ATI was ranked Top 12 globally in the 2025 Robust Reading Competition, outperforming GPT-4 Vision Turbo, Amazon Textract, Baidu, and Deepseek.

Laying the foundation for Ho Chi Minh City as an AI City
Beyond its technological implications, the Hyperscale Data Center serves a national purpose. CMC is partnering with Ho Chi Minh City and the C4IR Vietnam Center (under the World Economic Forum’s Fourth Industrial Revolution network) to develop Vietnam’s first AI City model. This initiative supports Resolution 57 on science & technology and innovation, and Resolution 68 promoting private sector engagement in economic development.
This infrastructure strengthens Ho Chi Minh City’s ability to attract R&D hubs, AI startups, venture capital, and tech institutions - paving the way for the city to become Southeast Asia’s digital capital.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman & Executive President of CMC Corporation, stated: “We do not see the CMC Hyperscale Data Center SHTP as just a typical data center. This is foundational infrastructure for Ho Chi Minh City to grow into the region’s Digital Hub. Vietnamese businesses will be able to access world-class computing without sending data abroad. This project affirms our commitment to the goals of Resolution 57 and Resolution 68.”

As part of its Go Global strategy, CMC sees AI as the platform for Vietnam to compete globally. The new data center will offer AI-as-a-Service, Big Data-as-a-Service, and Cyber Security-as-a-Service not just domestically, but to international markets. This is more than infrastructure - it is CMC’s declaration of its world-class technological mastery and ambition to partner with global cities in a new era of digital and AI transformation.
