Vietnamese singer Dam Vinh Hung has started preparing for his return to the stage after completing a 9-month performance ban. He and his team are currently filming a new project and finalizing a schedule of live shows across the country.
He recently released the music video Chi co tinh yeu (Only Love), marking his unofficial return after the ban.
In a statement to VietNamNet, a representative confirmed that the singer has not yet made an official comeback. The song, performed during a small acoustic show at a music lounge, gained viral attention online in recent days, prompting fans to request a full version. Responding to their enthusiasm, Dam Vinh Hung released a complete MV version immediately after his ban was lifted.
The MV is simple and nostalgic, set in 1960s Saigon. In it, Dam Vinh Hung plays a man searching for love, filled with quiet longing.
“This MV is a gift for his fans and not yet the main comeback product. Mr. Hung has a series of new music projects for 2025, and filming began right after the ban officially ended,” the representative added.
Dam Vinh Hung also announced his first post-ban performance, scheduled for May 24 in Ho Chi Minh City. Shows in Hanoi, Hue, and Da Lat will follow. His team is currently preparing a full-scale music program to be unveiled soon.

In July 2024, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee signed an administrative penalty against Dam Vinh Hung after the singer performed in a costume adorned with “unusual insignia” during his Ngay em thap sao troi (The Night You Lit the Stars) concert.
He was fined VND 27.5 million (approximately USD 1,090) and banned from performing for nine months under Article 11, Clause 9, Point b of Government Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP dated March 29, 2021.
Following the incident, Dam Vinh Hung took time off to rest and enjoy life, spending time with his mother and son, Polo Huynh, while maintaining his charitable activities.
With reduced income, he lived frugally and focused on preserving his health. “I want to live longer to be with my son,” the singer shared.
He also remains involved in a lawsuit filed by Gerard Williams - the husband of singer Bich Tuyen - related to a performance accident in the U.S. The case is currently pending at the Superior Court of Orange County under case number 30-2024-01436961-CU-PO-CJC.
