A video showing a husband delivering his wife’s baby in their front yard has gone viral in recent days. The labor came on so quickly that there was no time to get to the hospital, so the family rallied to help the mother give birth right at home.

The clip captures the wife screaming in pain while the husband calmly manages the situation, with family members jumping in to assist. Viewers have found the footage both emotional and intense.

Commenters on the clip praised the family's composure: “The father-in-law was very thoughtful, staying outside to avoid making his daughter-in-law feel uncomfortable,” one wrote. Another said, “A very special way to welcome a new family member,” while others expressed relief that both mother and baby were safe.

Speaking to VietNamNet, Nguyen Thi Cam Thuy, 27, from Huong Son district, Ha Tinh, confirmed she was the woman in the video. The footage was recorded on November 15, 2024, by the family’s security camera. Her baby is now over five months old.

“The video had been saved on my husband’s phone. For five months, I couldn’t bring myself to watch it because of the sound of my own screams,” she said. “Recently, while helping my husband set up a new phone, I finally watched it and decided to post it on TikTok as a keepsake.”

Thuy gave birth to her first child in 2022. Back then, she was hospitalized for two days before delivering. The second time, everything happened shockingly fast.

“At 5 AM on November 15, 2024, one day before my due date, I started feeling mild contractions. I told my husband we’d wait until daylight to call a taxi. Around 7 AM, the taxi arrived, but I was already in active labor and couldn’t make it into the car,” she recalled.

The pain intensified rapidly, and Thuy’s water broke. Her husband, along with her mother, in-laws, and sister-in-law, made the quick decision to deliver the baby on the spot.

“My husband took the lead while my mom and mother-in-law supported me. My sister-in-law called the local healthcare workers to come assist. Not long after, our baby was born into her father’s arms. The medical team arrived in time to cut the umbilical cord,” Thuy said.

“At that moment, I wasn’t so much afraid as I was overwhelmed by the pain. I only remember my husband saying, ‘Push, honey, push… the baby is almost out.’ After a bit of skin-to-skin bonding, we went to the hospital. I was fine, but the baby had mild jaundice and stayed for three more days,” she added.

The baby, affectionately named Cherry, is now over five months old and has started rolling and turning. “She eats and sleeps well,” Thuy said. “Taking care of her hasn’t been too exhausting.”

The story of Thuy’s home birth quickly spread through the village. For her husband, delivering his own child was a moment he will never forget.
