Dak Nong provincial police have fined a man from Lang Son for spreading false information online, claiming that dozens of tons of durians had been soaked in toxic chemicals, which stirred public concern.

On June 9, authorities in Dak Nong announced an administrative fine against Ha Van N. (born 1990), a resident of Tam Thanh Ward, Lang Son City, Lang Son Province. He was fined VND 7.5 million (approximately USD 295).
Ha Van N. was penalized for spreading false information about durians on social media.
Previously, on May 22, the Facebook account “Ha Bao Nam” published a post with a video titled “Breaking News: Durians soaked in chemicals.”
The video falsely alleged that dozens of tons of durians in Dak Nong had been soaked in toxic chemicals before reaching the market.
The post attracted thousands of views, shares, and comments, causing widespread alarm and negatively affecting the local agricultural business sector.
Authorities confirmed that the video’s content was baseless and unverified, seriously damaging the reputation of Dak Nong’s durian products.
At the police station, Ha Van N. admitted to the violation, cooperated with the investigation, and voluntarily removed the misleading content, which constituted a violation of regulations on postal, telecommunications, and online information security.
As a result of these actions, he received an administrative fine of VND 7.5 million (approximately USD 295).
