Miss Earth Vietnam 2025 will break from tradition by having its top 4 finalists compete for a month after the grand finale to determine who will represent Vietnam at the international Miss Earth pageant, instead of automatically awarding the position to the newly crowned queen.

During a press conference held on May 6 to announce details of the Miss Earth Vietnam 2025 competition, organizers revealed several major changes. The most striking among them is that the winner will not automatically become Vietnam’s representative at the global Miss Earth pageant.

Phan Duy Khanh, head of the organizing committee, stated that the top 4 finalists - including the winner and the three runners-up - will be assessed over the month following the final night to choose the most qualified candidate.

"Previously, many viewers questioned why a runner-up, who seemed more deserving, didn’t get to represent Vietnam internationally. So, we will now select the most suitable among the top 4," he explained when asked by the media.

Le Khanh, People’s Artist and chair of the judging panel, added: "Judges often struggle to balance domestic and international criteria. With Miss Earth, the representative must embody beauty, intelligence, and the ability to convey environmental messages. This additional evaluation period helps us identify the strongest candidate."

Themed “Beauty Reborn,” the competition will hold preliminary rounds in Hanoi (May 15) and Ho Chi Minh City (May 20), a semifinal night on June 22, and the grand finale on June 28 in Hai Phong. The final night will feature elimination rounds narrowing the field from the top 35 to 20, then to 8, and finally 4.

Another notable change is the removal of the national costume segment, replaced by a recycled fashion competition to emphasize environmental awareness. The crowned Miss Earth Vietnam will receive a car and be named Environmental Ambassador of Hai Phong.

In addition, the contest will launch various social and environmental projects: building houses for underprivileged families, cleaning residential areas and historical sites in Cat Ba, donating biodegradable trash bins in Le Chan District, and planting 3,000 trees in Thuy Nguyen District.

Miss Earth Vietnam 2025 is part of a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong’s liberation and the 2025 Red Flamboyant Flower Festival.
