Ho Chi Minh City police are currently coordinating with local police in the mentioned wards to investigate and take action against these entertainment venues. Authorities are also screening and questioning the drug users involved.
Acting on the directive from the Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police to crack down on drug hotspots and prevent the expansion of drug-related activities - especially in the early phase of the administrative merger at the provincial and communal levels - three task forces comprising hundreds of officers launched simultaneous raids last weekend.
The three targeted locations included F5 Club (formerly Di An City, Binh Duong province - now Dong Hoa ward), Six T Club (formerly Thuan An City, Binh Duong province - now An Phu ward), and TGT Disco Club (formerly Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province - now Vung Tau ward).
At these venues, police detained 364 individuals suspected of involvement in drug-related or criminal activities. Rapid drug testing revealed that 186 of them tested positive.
Officers seized over 100 grams of synthetic drugs, 57 nitrous oxide (laughing gas) canisters, and numerous related items.
Preliminary investigations revealed evidence of illegal drug dealing and organized drug use at all three locations.
When customers expressed a desire to use drugs, they would inform staff or designated distributors within the venues. These distributors would then deliver the drugs for on-site use. Employees and security staff were aware of the activities but turned a blind eye.
Authorities are now clarifying the involvement of bar owners, managers, and employees and are tracking down drug suppliers to pursue legal action in accordance with the law.
