On June 6, Dr. Nguyen Duy Long, Level-2 Specialist and Director of the 115 Emergency Center in Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed to VietNamNet that his unit had recently coordinated with Hung Vuong Hospital to save a pregnant woman who had fallen critically ill in a public park.

On the evening of June 3, the 115 Emergency Center received a distress call from L.Y.C (32), who resides in District 10. She reported that at 26 weeks pregnant, she had suddenly begun bleeding while at a local park.

Within 10 minutes, an emergency team reached the scene. At that time, the woman had a blood pressure of 190/100 mmHg, a rapid heart rate, and continuous vaginal bleeding. Ms. C. had a medical history of high-risk preeclampsia.

Doctors immediately administered emergency care, establishing an IV line, lowering blood pressure, and injecting magnesium sulfate to prevent seizures. A nurse accompanied the patient to monitor her closely and carry out the doctor's orders.

The team contacted Hung Vuong Hospital for consultation and arranged for her transfer. Specialists at the hospital provided initial instructions for management and prepared to receive the patient.

After an 8-minute ambulance ride, Ms. C. arrived at Hung Vuong Hospital in a state of severe preeclampsia and was diagnosed with a severe case of placental abruption. Just five minutes later, doctors performed an emergency C-section. The newborn, weighing 720 grams, was safely delivered and is currently under intensive care in the Neonatal Department. The mother is now in stable condition.

According to Dr. Long, severe preeclampsia can lead to numerous life-threatening complications if not detected and treated in time.

The successful rescue was made possible by the rapid response of the city’s emergency medical system and the smooth coordination between specialized medical teams, significantly increasing the patient’s chance of survival.
