At the 2025 grade 10 entrance exam, Tuan Dung emerged as the valedictorian of the Informatics majoring class and the highest scorer at the entrance exam to Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted.

For general subjects (Math, Literature, English), he scored 8.5, 7.75, and 9.5, respectively. With a perfect 10 in Informatics (his major), his total was 55.75, making him the top scorer in Ha Tinh’s grade 10 entrance exam. His score exceeded the Informatics cutoff for Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted by 10.75 points.

Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted is renowned nationwide for academic excellence, with many national scholars and international medalists.

Dung told VietNamNet he was confident during the exam, so the perfect score wasn’t too surprising.

His parents introduced him to Informatics very early. By grade 5, he was learning programming, solving algorithmic problems, and coding in C++. However, it wasn’t until grade 8 that he grew passionate about the subject and began rigorous preparation for the specialized Informatics class. With a clear goal, he focused on competitive programming and problem-solving, which proved effective, earning him city and provincial awards.

Dung said he intensified his Informatics study in grade 9 for the gifted school exam. He learned from teachers, explored online resources, practiced past exam questions, and sought guidance from his Informatics teacher.

Sharing his secret to excelling in Informatics, Dung said he spends three hours daily reviewing lessons and doing assigned exercises. He also practices past exam questions from other schools and solves problems on programming-focused websites.

He said the key to academic success is a serious, open-minded attitude, self-discipline, and discipline in learning, avoiding distractions like online games, and studying with a relaxed mindset without self-imposed pressure.

He also emphasized a strong Math foundation to deepen programming solutions in Informatics. He balances his focus on specialized study with Math and other academic subjects.

Vo Ta Nam, his Informatics teacher at Le Van Thiem Secondary School, described Tuan Dung as a bright, eager learner with a creative flair for Informatics and a passion for diving deeper into the subject.

Before his perfect 10 in the entrance exam, Tuan Dung scored a flawless 20/20 in the provincial Informatics competition.
