On the morning of May 30, the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Agency, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Thanh Ha District People’s Committee, held the 2025 Thanh Ha Lychee Trade Promotion Conference. The event welcomed commercial attachés and foreign businesses.

The conference aimed to enhance the promotion of lychee quality and branding, boost domestic consumption and exports, and explore and expand markets for Hai Duong’s agricultural products, particularly Thanh Ha lychees.

Recognized as one of Hai Duong’s eight key agricultural products, Thanh Ha lychees are cultivated at scale using high-tech farming methods under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, meeting strict international food safety requirements.

Hai Duong province currently has 8,800 hectares of lychee plantations, with 3,285 hectares located in Thanh Ha District alone. The early harvest variety is concentrated across 2,000 hectares in Thanh Ha and is already being picked, while the main season will begin in mid-June.

This year, Hai Duong expects a total lychee yield of 60,000 tons, including 32,500 tons from the early season and 27,500 tons from the main season. Thanh Ha District, the province’s key growing area, is projected to harvest around 38,000 tons.

Lychees harvested in Thanh Ha are being purchased and exported by enterprises to countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and members of the European Union.

On the morning of May 30, the first shipments of 2025 Thanh Ha lychees departed for Hai Phong Port, bound for export to Japan.

Hai Duong authorities have instructed relevant units to continue expanding lychee exports to high-end markets, while actively exploring new and potential markets such as those in South America and Africa, to further elevate the local lychee brand.

Pham Thi Dao, Deputy Director of the Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that to meet increasingly strict market demands, the department has directed its technical units to enhance guidance on cultivation practices and to regularly inspect and monitor pest control and plant care, particularly as the season progresses.

The department is also supporting the expansion of certified lychee production areas meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP safety standards.

“We are conducting a comprehensive review and issuing new codes for planting areas and packing facilities to support lychee exports. Currently, Hai Duong has 198 certified planting area codes and 16 packing facility codes recognized for export purposes,” Dao added.

Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee, called on Thanh Ha District and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide local farmers during the harvest and support lychee sales. He also encouraged efforts to facilitate the work of businesses and traders in purchasing and distributing Thanh Ha lychees efficiently and conveniently.

Welcoming merchants, businesses, supermarket associations, trade centers, and wholesale markets across the country to Hai Duong, Mr. Quan reaffirmed the province’s commitment to creating the most favorable conditions in terms of administrative procedures, security, transportation, logistics, and all services related to lychee consumption.
