According to the Institute of Geophysics, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake has just occurred in Muong Cha District, Dien Bien Province, classified as level 2 on the disaster risk scale.
The earthquake took place at 11:17 AM on May 16 at a latitude of 21.474°N and longitude of 103.129°E, with the epicenter located in Muong Cha District, Dien Bien Province. The quake had a focal depth of approximately 10 kilometers and a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale.
The Institute of Geophysics is continuing to monitor the situation.
“The disaster risk level at the epicenter of this earthquake is classified as level 2,” a representative of the Institute of Geophysics reported.
On social media, many residents in Muong Cha District and surrounding areas said they felt noticeable shaking during the tremor.
