The "Immortal Regiment" parade has become a lasting tradition in Russia and around the world.

The parade was organized to commemorate two historic milestones: the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (World War II) and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification.

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko stated that the “Immortal Regiment” has become a global tradition to honor those who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

He emphasized that Russia remembers the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought alongside Soviet troops between 1941 and 1945. Their names are engraved on memorials at the Memory Road Museum in Patriot Park, on the outskirts of Moscow.

In tribute, a monument depicting Vietnamese soldiers in Red Army uniforms has been erected within the park complex.

“We remember the heroes of Vietnam’s liberation movement, those who helped liberate the South and reunify the country 50 years ago,” Ambassador Bezdetko said.

According to the Ambassador, the 1945 victory fundamentally reshaped the world and opened a new chapter for humanity. He emphasized: “As long as we remember the events of those distant years, we can hope that such tragedies will never be repeated.”

Lieutenant General Le Quang Bon, President of the University of Fire Prevention and Fighting, noted that the parade is not only a cultural event but also a solemn moment to honor those who sacrificed for national freedom and independence.

The "Immortal Regiment" parade honors the heroic veterans and martyrs of both Vietnam and Russia who sacrificed for national liberation and world peace.

The event showcased the enduring solidarity between Vietnam and Russia and strengthened their longstanding friendship, especially as both nations mark significant historical milestones. The year 2025 also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

With the Vietnamese tradition of "drinking water, remember the source", the people of Vietnam express deep gratitude for the immense sacrifices made by other nations, especially the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia, in securing victory over fascism and safeguarding humanity from destruction.

At the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense will send a delegation to participate in the grand military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia.

General Secretary To Lam is also scheduled to pay an official visit to Russia and attend the 80th Victory Day celebrations.
