Meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping

During a bilateral conversation, General Secretary To Lam emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to effectively implementing high-level common understandings and joint declarations between Vietnam and China.

He reaffirmed Vietnam's determination to deepen the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and build a future-sharing community guided by the “six more” framework.

He called for practical cooperation, particularly in railway connectivity, digital transformation, and science and technology - areas he proposed should become new growth drivers. He urged China to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources in these fields.

General Secretary To Lam also expressed hope that bilateral trade would grow in a stable and healthy manner, with China increasing imports of Vietnamese agricultural and seafood products. He advocated for better management of maritime issues to create a stable environment for both countries' development and bilateral ties.

President Xi praised the proposals and emphasized that China highly values its strategic partnership and future-sharing community with Vietnam. He reiterated that this relationship is a top priority in China’s foreign policy toward neighboring countries.

The two sides agreed to quickly implement high-level agreements, strengthen political trust, enhance cooperation quality and effectiveness, and deepen mutual understanding and support among their peoples.

Meeting with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel

General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed that Vietnam would never forget Cuba’s heartfelt support during its national liberation struggle. He stressed Vietnam’s commitment to preserving and strengthening the traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

He called for the continued implementation of high-level agreements, especially in economics, trade, agriculture, food and energy security. He reiterated Vietnam’s consistent position against unilateral sanctions on Cuba.

President Díaz-Canel thanked Vietnam for its steadfast support, describing the relationship as one of trust and deep friendship. He promised to direct Cuban ministries and agencies to work closely with Vietnam in implementing the outcomes of General Secretary To Lam’s 2024 visit to Cuba.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed Vietnam's respect for its traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and expressed the Communist Party of Vietnam's wish to strengthen ties with political parties in Uzbekistan.

Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to boost Uzbekistan’s cooperation with Southeast Asia and requested Uzbekistan’s support in promoting Vietnam's relations with Central Asia. President Mirziyoyev welcomed stronger ties and called for the successful organization of the 8th Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation this year. He also supported expanded cooperation in energy, education, transport, and launching direct flights and multimodal freight services.

General Secretary To Lam praised Brazil’s role and expressed support for its hosting of the BRICS Summit and COP30 later this year.

President Lula da Silva recalled his recent visit to Vietnam with appreciation and confirmed that he had instructed Brazilian ministries and agencies to implement all signed agreements. He also formally invited a high-level Vietnamese delegation to attend the upcoming summits.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed Vietnam’s appreciation for Slovakia’s past support and its desire to expand traditional friendship and multi-sector cooperation.

Prime Minister Fico recalled fond memories of his 2016 visit to Vietnam and emphasized Slovakia’s recognition of Vietnam as a key partner in Southeast Asia.

The two leaders agreed to boost economic cooperation by leveraging complementary strengths and to enhance collaboration in education, science and technology, innovation, and student exchanges. They also pledged to promote cultural and tourism partnerships.

Prime Minister Fico suggested organizing cultural exchanges, art exhibitions, film weeks, and sports events in 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He proposed Vietnam consider granting visa exemptions to Slovak citizens to further enhance tourism and bilateral investment.
