FPT Play has officially announced that it has acquired the exclusive broadcasting and media rights to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Vietnam.

According to the agreement, FPT Play is the sole broadcaster in the country with rights to air and distribute the tournament across all platforms, including terrestrial TV, cable, satellite, IPTV, Internet, mobile, public screenings, and social media. The FIFA Club World Cup is the pinnacle of global club competitions under FIFA's system. This year's edition marks the first time the tournament will follow a completely revamped format. Transitioning from an annual event to one held every four years, the competition now takes place a year ahead of each FIFA World Cup. The number of participating clubs has increased from 7 to 32, featuring the most successful teams from six continental confederations.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be held in the United States, one of the three co-host nations of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The competition will feature a total of 63 matches, kicking off on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The final is scheduled for July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New York. Aside from the host nation’s club, the remaining 31 teams will comprise champions of their respective continents over the past four years or clubs with top continental rankings during the same period.

Teams will be divided into eight groups for a single round-robin stage. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds, beginning with the round of 16 and culminating in the final to determine the overall champion. The total prize pool for the tournament is a staggering USD 1 billion.

As of 2023, eleven different clubs have won the FIFA Club World Cup. Real Madrid (Spain) holds the record with five titles. Other champions include Barcelona (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), AC Milan and Inter Milan (Italy), Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea (England), and Brazilian clubs Corinthians, São Paulo, and Internacional.
