On June 23, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung officially appointed Nguyen Truong Giang, acting chairman of the Members' Council of Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPost), as the permanent chairman of the council.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung praised Nguyen Truong Giang as a remarkable individual who voluntarily moved from a more favorable position to take on a challenging role. While VNPT VinaPhone boasts high revenues, strong profits, and stable growth, VNPost has faced persistent difficulties.
“Not many among us would be bold enough to make such a choice. It takes immense self-belief, faith in a mission, or an intense desire to overcome challenges to make such a decision,” the minister shared.
Over the past two years, Nguyen Truong Giang and VNPost have weathered numerous challenges, reversed the downward trajectory, resumed growth, and increased wages for over 50,000 employees. More importantly, a clearer path forward has emerged.
According to the minister, this progress marks both personal growth for Giang and a vital rejuvenation of Vietnam Post. He noted that while the chairmanship comes with increased responsibility, it also represents a significant milestone in Giang’s career.
Expressing his gratitude, Nguyen Truong Giang thanked Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and the ministry's leadership for their trust. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of VNPost’s Members' Council, executive board, and all employees over the past two years.
“That trust and support have been a powerful source of strength, enabling me to overcome many challenging phases,” Giang stated.
The new VNPost chairman highlighted that the rapidly changing world presents both enormous challenges and significant opportunities for Vietnam Post to redefine its role in the digital economy and society.
“Vietnam Post must move beyond the traditional enterprise model and become a modern technology-based public service provider. It must quickly adopt emerging technologies such as AI, big data, cloud computing, and digital platforms to offer essential, intelligent postal, logistics, public administration, and retail services accessible to all,” Giang emphasized.
During the ceremony, Chairman Giang outlined six strategic priorities that he and VNPost’s leadership will pursue in the coming period.
First, Vietnam Post will accelerate its transformation from a traditional postal enterprise into a technology-driven service provider, delivering integrated, comprehensive solutions to enhance customer experience.
Second, the company will reform its pricing mechanisms and operational efficiency, significantly reduce service costs, and rebuild the national logistics market to help boost economic growth.
Third, Vietnam Post aims to affirm its leadership in the logistics industry, targeting 400% growth by 2030 and delivering optimal, end-to-end solutions for customers.
Fourth, it will develop and elevate the “Vietnam Post Mart” retail chain and e-commerce platform into one of the top three largest retail systems in Vietnam by 2030, leveraging its extensive distribution network and public trust.
Fifth, a comprehensive digital transformation platform will be launched for traditional convenience stores nationwide. Vietnam Post aims to capture 50% of this service segment, helping small retailers adopt technology, increase income, and contribute to local economic development.
Sixth, the company will establish a modern, transparent, flexible, and innovative governance model. It will cultivate a young, tech-savvy workforce committed to customer service and long-term dedication to the organization.
Over the next 12 months, VNPost targets a 25% increase in revenue and a 15% rise in both profits and employee income.
Nguyen Truong Giang, born in 1971, holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the National Economics University in Hanoi. Prior to becoming VNPost chairman, he held several senior leadership roles, including:
