According to the forecast, a continental high-pressure system will extend weakly southward. Around May 12, it will quickly weaken as a low-pressure trough forms between 24–27°N latitude.

From May 13–14, the low-pressure trough will be mildly compressed and pushed southward. By May 17–18, the western low-pressure system is expected to develop eastward again. Southwesterly winds of light to moderate intensity will prevail in the south until May 13–14, after which they will gradually weaken.

Northern Vietnam will welcome a late-season cold air front, causing significant thunderstorms followed by sunshine later in the forecast period. Specifically:

Northern and north-central Vietnam: From the afternoon of May 10 through the morning of May 11, moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected, with some areas seeing very heavy rain. Rain will then decrease, and sunny conditions will return. From May 14–16, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely again, mainly in the late afternoon and evening, with intermittent sunshine during the day. Hot weather may return around May 17.

Central and south-central Vietnam: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in some areas, with mostly sunny days. In the northern portion of this region, from the afternoon of May 10 to May 12, there will be scattered rain and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rainfall in some places.

Central Highlands and southern Vietnam: Scattered showers and thunderstorms may occur, particularly in the afternoon and evening. From May 11–12, the region could experience moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas seeing intense rainfall.

Hanoi weather outlook (May 10–19): From the afternoon of May 10 to the morning of May 11, the capital is expected to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, including areas with very heavy rainfall. Rain will then decrease, with daytime sunshine returning. From May 14–16, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Rain is expected to subside afterward.

Thunderstorms may be accompanied by whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusty winds.
