Artist Kim Duc at the presentation ceremony of “Lotus in Pure Land”

This gift not only reflects the affection and respect between the two countries but also symbolizes spiritual and cultural exchange, contributing to the strengthening of friendly ties between Vietnam and Sri Lanka based on the shared values of the Dharma.

"Lotus in Pure Land" is an oil painting created in 2022 by artist Kim Duc. It is a lotus-themed artwork of high artistic merit, deeply emblematic of the compassion and wisdom in Buddhism.

With a harmonious composition, soft lines, and spiritual depth, the painting draws viewers into a tranquil world where each lotus petal seems to breathe, emanating a pure fragrance and the echo of distant temple bells.

“Lotus in Pure Land” embodies the message of awakening and compassion through the image of the lotus flower rising above the mud.

More than just a work of visual art, "Lotus in Pure Land" conveys a vivid message of mindfulness and compassion, illustrating the transformation of suffering into peace - like the lotus rising unstained from the mud to bloom in serene purity. These are also the core values that the United Nations Day of Vesak aspires to uphold.

Previously, “Lotus in Pure Land” received blessings from the Supreme Patriarch, Vice Patriarch, and Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, as well as from the Gyalwang Drukpa and the Supreme Patriarch of Myanmar Buddhism.

It was displayed at the 9th National Congress of Vietnamese Buddhism and at the 2023 "Pure Beauty of Vietnamese Lotus Art" exhibition.
