On April 29, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company No.1 (HURC1) announced that passengers on the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line will enjoy free rides during the two holiday days.

Passengers can enjoy free rides by scanning their National ID card or chip-based Citizen ID directly at the ticket gate.

Alternatively, passengers can use a QR code generated from the HCMC Metro HURC application. After downloading the app, users select the "Independent QR" function to create a ticket and scan the QR code at the gate.

HURC1 noted that passengers using bank cards, e-wallets, or purchasing QR tickets via the app will still be charged as normal, and the company will not refund any ticket purchases made through these payment methods.

According to data on passenger traffic during recent major events: on April 22, during rehearsal and marching events, the metro served 61,713 passengers; on April 25, during the parade rehearsal, there were 108,613 passengers; and on April 27, during the final parade rehearsal, there were 76,984 passengers.

For the official parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification on April 30, the metro expects to serve over 110,000 passengers.

During the holidays, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro will operate from 4:30 AM until 11:00 PM on April 30, increasing the number of trips from 200 to 240 to meet the heightened demand for transportation as residents and visitors attend celebration events, parades, and marches.

Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center announced that all passengers riding on 133 intra-provincial and inter-provincial bus routes connecting to Ho Chi Minh City would also enjoy free bus rides on April 30. In addition, Phuong Trang Bus Company is offering free bus services across the city for an extra day on May 1.
