This morning in Moscow, General Secretary To Lam held a gratitude meeting with Russian scholars, intellectuals, and experts who have supported Vietnam over the decades.
He emphasized that the unyielding spirit of the Soviet people served as a guiding light and source of strength, helping the Vietnamese people overcome immense challenges and achieve victory in their struggle for national liberation.

With the spirit of "when drinking water, remember its source," Vietnam deeply values and remains profoundly grateful for the heartfelt and substantial assistance from Soviet and Russian experts.
He noted that iconic projects built with Soviet and Russian support - such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Thang Long Bridge, and Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant - have become lasting symbols of the friendship between the two nations.
Russia has helped train nearly 70,000 Vietnamese officials across generations, many of whom have held top leadership positions in the Party and State. These individuals have laid the foundation for Vietnam’s key sectors in science, economics, and national development, including in the present era.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the high-level agreements reached during recent official visits between the two countries serve as strategic orientations - guiding principles for advancing the bilateral relationship into a new phase of deeper, more substantive cooperation.
He proposed that the two sides further promote economic integration, effectively implement ongoing joint projects in traditional sectors, and study each other’s markets to diversify trade portfolios and direct investment toward new areas with strong potential and long-term demand.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his hope that Vietnam-Russia relations would become a model for transforming vast regions into thriving areas of potential for all participating countries.
In that spirit, he proposed enhanced cooperation in basic science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation - fields in which Russia excels and Vietnam considers vital breakthroughs for its future development in the new era.
He also expressed confidence that the young generations of both countries will carry forward the legacy of friendship, seize the opportunities afforded by the rich shared history, and write new chapters of success, bringing renewed vitality and a brighter future to Vietnam-Russia relations.
Later in the day, General Secretary To Lam met with Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
He commended the party’s notable achievements and affirmed its continued role as one of Russia’s leading political forces.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his belief that the Russian Communist Party, with its prestige and experience, will continue to play a vital role in the country’s political and social landscape and contribute significantly to Russia’s development and prosperity. He also acknowledged the party’s continued leadership within the global communist and workers’ movement.
The Communist Party of Vietnam, he stated, greatly values its traditional friendship with the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. The relationship between the two parties holds strategic importance in the broader Vietnam-Russia partnership and serves as a political foundation for deepening cooperation in various fields.
This is especially meaningful as Vietnam enters a new era of national growth and renewal. Party-to-party cooperation plays an essential role in advancing and strengthening the global communist movement.
Chairman Zyuganov welcomed the positive momentum in party-to-party relations and highlighted the landmark agreement signed in January 2024 to deepen and expand cooperation between the two parties.
Both leaders agreed to effectively implement the agreement, with a focus on increasing delegation exchanges, sharing information about each party’s activities, and actively supporting relations between affiliated mass organizations.
