As part of celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation, Hai Phong has inaugurated the Political - Administrative Center and the Conference - Performance Center, while launching and completing a range of major infrastructure projects on the afternoon of May 11.

The events, hosted by the Hai Phong People’s Committee, form part of a series of commemorative activities honoring the city's heroic legacy and the 2025 Red Flamboyant Festival. Twelve events were held both online and in-person across 11 locations.

Attendees at the main ceremony included Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Haiphong Party Committee; Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of the Haiphong People’s Committee; and various leaders from central and local government departments.

At the main venue in Thuy Nguyen City, two landmark projects were unveiled: the Political - Administrative Center and the Conference - Performance Center. Both projects, launched in 2023, were developed with a total investment of 5,000 billion VND (approximately 200 million USD).

The Political - Administrative Center comprises 14 buildings, symmetrically aligned along north-south and east-west axes, with a maximum height of 74.4 meters.

The center covers a construction area of nearly 29,035 square meters, with a total floor area of 89,500 square meters and a fully integrated technical infrastructure.

It will accommodate all municipal Party organizations, government agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and other political and social organizations.

The Conference - Performance Center is designed as a symbolic architectural landmark of the city. It features a 1,500-seat auditorium spread across three floors and one basement level.

With a maximum height of 36.5 meters from ground level to roof peak, the building offers a total floor area of approximately 49,612 square meters.

Several other key developments were also launched. These included the second phase of the aircraft apron expansion at Cat Bi International Airport, covering 13.68 hectares and requiring an investment of 1,151 billion VND (about 46 million USD).

A new urban development project also broke ground, spanning over 240 hectares in Duong Kinh District and Kien Thuy District, with a total investment exceeding 23,000 billion VND (around 920 million USD).

Additionally, the Singapore International School in Vinh Niem Ward, Le Chan District, was inaugurated. Covering 3.04 hectares, the school will serve up to 1,500 students from kindergarten to grade 12, with an investment of 360 billion VND (roughly 14.4 million USD).

The city also commenced construction of a social housing project in Dong Hai 2 Ward, Hai An District, within the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone. The development spans 22.4 hectares.

Hoai Anh
