Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh has signed Plan No. 173/KH-UBND to organize the official ceremony, military parade, and public procession marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The city of Hanoi will celebrate the occasion with a fireworks display at five locations on the evening of September 2, 2025.

The event aims to highlight the immense historical significance and magnitude of the August Revolution and the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - as monumental milestones in the nation’s struggle for independence under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

These celebrations are also intended to reinforce public trust in the Party’s leadership and vision, as well as its strategic decisions guiding the country into a new era.

The event is being organized to foster revolutionary ideals, national pride, and unity; to express deep gratitude toward those who sacrificed for independence; and to inspire patriotism, self-reliance, and a collective aspiration for national prosperity, in line with the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

It also affirms the strength of Vietnam’s national unity and international solidarity, as well as the unified determination of the Party, the people, and the armed forces to successfully carry out the country's renewal process and firmly safeguard the socialist homeland.

The plan emphasizes that the ceremony, parade, and procession must reflect the grandeur and meaning of the event - carried out with solemnity, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety. It will be linked with communication activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the People’s Public Security Force and the lead-up to the 14th National Party Congress.

The main venue will be Ba Dinh Square and selected central streets in Hanoi, following the Ministry of National Defense’s event proposal.

The Central Steering Committee for National Celebrations (2023-2025) will direct the event, with Hanoi as the lead organizer and coordination from the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other related agencies.

The event is expected to draw about 30,000 participants, not including the parade and march contingents.

The plan outlines the responsibilities of relevant agencies and the rehearsal schedules.

Local media agencies are tasked with proactively promoting the content and activities of the 80th anniversary celebration across their segments, banners, and social media platforms.
