The five-day holiday from April 30 to May 4, 2025, proved to be a "golden opportunity" for Vietnam's tourism industry, with several provinces and cities welcoming over a million visitors and earning trillions of dong in revenue.
Nationwide, an estimated 10.5 million tourist arrivals were recorded - an increase of 31.2% compared to the same period in 2024.
Ho Chi Minh City leads in both visitors and revenue

Ho Chi Minh City alone welcomed approximately 1.95 million visitors, doubling last year's figures. Of these, about 120,000 were international tourists - 2.2 times higher than the previous year.
The city’s tourism revenue reached VND 7.138 trillion (approx. USD 281 million), 2.2 times higher year-over-year. Hotel occupancy from April 27 to May 1 hit 95-100% across 1-5 star hotels in central districts, with many 4-5 star hotels fully booked. Inner-city and historical tours surged 2-3 times compared to last year.
Thanh Hoa: The rising coastal tourism hub

Thanh Hoa remained a top draw, attracting around 1.6 million visitors - up 5.3% from 2024. Tourism revenue reached approximately VND 4.1 trillion (approx. USD 161.5 million), up 9.6% Sam Son, dubbed the “beach tourism capital,” alone welcomed about 916,000 visitors.
In 2024, Thanh Hoa topped the nation in both visitor numbers and revenue for the same holiday period, surpassing even Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Other key tourism hotspots
Nghe An welcomed an estimated 1.17 million visitors, a 23% increase from last year, with total revenue nearing VND 2 trillion (approx. USD 78.8 million).
Quang Ninh recorded over 1 million visitors in just four days (April 30 - May 3), up 13%, and earned VND 2.8 trillion (approx. USD 110.4 million), a 42% rise. Island destinations like Co To, Van Don, Mong Cai, and Bai Tu Long Bay saw dramatic spikes.
Khanh Hoa received over 1 million visitors, with total revenue close to VND 1.4 trillion (approx. USD 55.2 million), up 5.4%.
Hanoi welcomed more than 875,000 visitors - up nearly 19% from 2024. This included 136,190 international travelers (up 55%) and 739,000 domestic visitors. Total tourism revenue reached VND 3.15 trillion (approx. USD 124.2 million), a 25% increase.

Ninh Binh welcomed over 700,000 tourists, a 49% jump from 2024, including over 124,000 international arrivals. Revenue topped VND 1 trillion (approx. USD 39.4 million), up 44%.
Da Nang saw around 610,000 visitors, up over 50% year-over-year. Lodging guests totaled about 230,395, with international visitors reaching 105,000 (up 44%). Revenue from tourism was estimated at VND 2.426 trillion (approx. USD 95.7 million).
Kien Giang recorded over 320,000 visitors, up 19%, with nearly 29,000 international tourists. Revenue hit VND 986.4 billion (approx. USD 38.9 million), a 67.2% increase. Phu Quoc alone received more than 150,000 visitors, up 19.5%.
Lao Cai welcomed 265,000 visitors, with tourism revenue exceeding VND 900 billion (approx. USD 35.5 million).
Quang Ngai saw more than 231,000 visitors, up 26%, earning VND 219 billion (approx. USD 8.6 million). Ly Son Island reached nearly full lodging capacity.
Binh Thuan attracted 228,000 visitors. Hotel occupancy during peak days averaged 75-95%, generating an estimated VND 450 billion (approx. USD 17.7 million) in tourism revenue.
