According to a report from Korean blog Naver, user "yeux1122" claims that accessory suppliers have begun producing camera ring components in color-matched finishes for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air, offering early insight into the devices' final color lineup.
For the iPhone 17, the reported color options include Black, Silver, Blue, Green, and Purple. These match previous reports suggesting Apple is testing new green and purple tones for this year’s release.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch in Black, Silver, Gold, and Blue - marking the first time the Gold finish enters this product tier. The sources behind this claim include known leakers “Fixed Focus Digital” and “Majin Bu,” who have accurately predicted Apple’s design language in the past.
Refined color palette and product positioning
By comparison, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus were offered in Black, White, Pink, Mint Green, and Ocean Blue. For the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple appears to be phasing out Pink and Mint Green in favor of new Green and Purple finishes. The White and Ocean Blue shades are expected to be replaced with Silver and a deeper Blue, respectively, aligning with more classic hues.
These changes show Apple’s continued refinement of its design language. The iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the iPhone 16 Plus, is expected to take on a more premium look, akin to the “Pro” series. The darker, sleeker finishes suggest that Apple is pushing the 17 Air as a high-end, lightweight alternative with its own identity.
This shift supports Apple’s new segmentation strategy: a clearer divide in design and experience across the standard, Air, and Pro lines. The inclusion of Gold in the iPhone 17 Air marks a deliberate move toward elevating this model’s appeal.
All four models - iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max - are expected to debut this fall, consistent with Apple’s typical release cycle.
As more design and hardware leaks surface, it’s becoming clear that the iPhone 17 generation will feature more defined styling, positioning, and personalization than ever before.
