Hundreds of white doves symbolizing peace soared into the sky as two North-South Reunification trains met at Da Nang Station on April 30 - recreating the emotional image of Vietnam's first Reunification train journey following the country’s historic reunification in 1975.

At exactly 12:40 p.m., on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), trains SE1 from Hanoi and SE4 from Ho Chi Minh City arrived simultaneously at Da Nang Station. The symbolic convergence brought a wave of patriotic emotion to the station, packed with cheering crowds waving national flags.

From early morning, hundreds of Da Nang residents had gathered at the station, dressed in red shirts with yellow stars and carrying national flags to welcome the arrival of the two Reunification trains.

The carriages were specially decorated under the theme “Reunification Railway - Connecting the Nation,” delivering a message of unity and pride while reflecting the spirit of renewal in Vietnam’s railway sector.

As the two trains entered the station, a flock of white doves was released, accompanied by the stirring sounds of patriotic songs such as “Nhu Co Bac Ho Trong Ngay Vui Dai Thang” (As If Uncle Ho Were Here on the Day of Great Victory) and “Viet Tiep Cau Chuyen Hoa Binh” (Continue the Story of Peace). The entire platform was swept up in a wave of shared pride and emotion.

To many Vietnamese, the image of the Reunification Train linking North and South has become a powerful symbol of peace, national independence, and the triumphant joy of unity.

Aboard train SE4 from Ho Chi Minh City, passenger Doan Thi Kieu Oanh (37, from Quang Ngai province) said she was deeply moved upon arriving in Da Nang to a hero’s welcome.

“When I stepped off the train and heard the song ‘Vietnam Ho Chi Minh’ sung in unison, I was overwhelmed with pride,” she said. “Words can’t express the gratitude I feel for the generations of heroes who sacrificed everything so that families like mine can experience peace - on this very Reunification Train.”

The event was organized by Vietnam Railways Corporation to commemorate the 50th anniversary of national reunification. Flags and floral decorations blanketed the station, transforming Da Nang into a hub of national celebration.

During the celebration, Vietnam Railways facilitated the arrival and departure of nearly 900 passengers aboard the Reunification trains - welcoming around 400 passengers disembarking in Da Nang and sending off nearly 500 passengers continuing their journey to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
