
VTV Binh Dien Long An delivers a valiant effort but finishes as runners-up.
The Vietnamese team, led by the impressive Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, and Tra Mi, showed resilience and fighting spirit throughout the match. However, Zhetysu's superior physicality and experience ultimately proved too much.
The final concluded with Zhetysu winning 25-14, 20-25, 25-23, and 25-18, securing the championship title.
Outstanding performances recognized
At the awards ceremony, several VTV Binh Dien Long An players received individual honors:
Best Outside Spiker: Vi Thi Nhu Quynh (VTV Binh Dien Long An)
Best Opposite Spiker: Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (VTV Binh Dien Long An)
Best Libero: Nguyen Khanh Dang (VTV Binh Dien Long An)
Meanwhile, Karina Denisova of Zhetysu was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
A strong start but challenges emerged
In the opening set, despite taking an early lead, Binh Dien Long An struggled with Zhetysu’s powerful attacks and tight blocks. The Kazakh club dominated and closed the first set 25-14.
The second set saw a remarkable comeback from the Vietnamese team. Thanh Thuy and Nhu Quynh consistently broke through the opponent's defense, helping Binh Dien Long An win 25-20 and level the match.
However, in the third set, the two teams battled point-for-point. Although Binh Dien Long An fought valiantly, a few critical errors in the closing moments handed Zhetysu a narrow 25-23 victory.
Entering the fourth set under pressure, Binh Dien Long An tried to rally but Zhetysu maintained control and secured the championship with a 25-18 win.
A historic campaign for VTV Binh Dien Long An
Despite the defeat, VTV Binh Dien Long An’s journey to the final was historic. This runner-up finish is a significant achievement for Vietnamese club volleyball on the continental stage.
With their performance, Binh Dien Long An also secured a place at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.
