The Meteorological and Hydrological Administration under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued an official notice to the People’s Committees of centrally governed provinces and cities. The notice provides weather and disaster information to support the rollout of new provincial and local government arrangements effective from July 1, 2025.
The report covers national weather conditions from June 26 to July 2, a period that coincides with the 2025 national high school graduation exam held from June 25 to 28.
Forecast details by region from June 26 to July 2:
In northern Vietnam: Widespread heavy rain is likely from the night of June 28, especially in midland and mountainous areas, accompanied by high risks of tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and localized flooding.
From June 26 to 28, the region will see showers and thunderstorms. In particular, midland and mountainous zones may experience moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 15 to 40mm per day and some areas exceeding 150mm.
From the night of June 28 to July 2, a significant weather event is expected to bring widespread thunderstorms. Midland and mountainous areas could receive between 150 to 300mm of rain per event, with certain places potentially exceeding 500mm. This brings heightened risks of extreme weather events such as tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and flooding in low-lying regions.
In central Vietnam: The region will generally experience dry and sunny conditions, with some areas facing heatwaves.
From June 26 to 28, the Thanh Hoa to Hue region will see minimal rainfall and high temperatures ranging from 91-97°F (33-36°C), with localized heatwaves. From Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the weather will be sunny during the day with isolated evening thunderstorms.
From June 29 to July 2, the area will remain mostly dry and sunny, with some locations experiencing hot weather.
In the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam: These areas will see sunny days followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening.
From June 26 to 27, rainfall will be moderate, with some locations receiving 0.8-1.6 inches (20-40mm) per day and localized amounts over 2.8 inches (70mm).
From June 28 to 30, the weather will remain sunny with evening showers and thunderstorms, but no widespread heavy rain is forecast.
From July 1 to 2, moderate rainfall is expected again, with some areas potentially receiving more than 2.8 inches (70mm) per day.
Note: During thunderstorms, precautions should be taken against tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying zones.
