Topping the Vietnamese entries is the beloved banh mi, ranked third overall with a score of 4.6 out of 5 stars. Taste Atlas praised banh mi as a "culinary heritage" of Vietnam, highlighting how each region brings unique fillings and flavors to this iconic sandwich.
Reflecting its diversity, Vietnam had five additional banh mi variations on the list, including banh mi thit nguoi (cold cuts sandwich) ranked 11th, banh mi lon quay (roast pork sandwich) 13th, banh mi dac biet (special banh mi) 65th, banh mi ga nuong (grilled chicken sandwich) 81st, and banh mi xiu mai (meatball sandwich) 99th.
Pho (Vietnamese noodles) also represented Vietnam strongly. Rated 4.5 stars, pho bo (beef pho) landed in 9th place. Other variations included pho (general pho) ranked 14th, pho ga (chicken pho) at 37th, and pho hai san (seafood pho) at 53rd.
Taste Atlas updated its “Top 100 Southeast Asian Street Foods” list in mid-April, verifying 6,973 out of 10,080 submitted reviews as valid.
With 25 dishes listed, Vietnam boasts the highest number of entries among all Southeast Asian nations.
